![]() ![]() Apple has been generous in not raising prices higher, or truly, even much at all - at least as yet. US and global governments printing TRILLIONS of dollars during COVID wasn't a smart idea, and now we're paying the price, with tens of trillions of dollars flooding around the world, pushing up the price of homes, energy, food and products. The M2 MacBook Air starts at AUD $1899 (US $1199), rather than the AUD $1499 (US $999) of the MacBook Air with M1, but given Officeworks still sells the base M1 MBA for $1397, there will hopefully be keener prices out there for the MBA M2, too. ![]() Ok, so the new MacBook Air with M2 processor is more expensive than the M1 MBA, which still remains on sale. So, here's the full Apple keynote, which truly is absolutely must watch, and which once again will get the photocopiers starting up in Redmond, Mountain View, Seoul and Shenzhen! There's also fantastic updates in privacy, personal security, Passkeys in Safari which can't be leaked or phished, HomeKit and the new Matter standard, a sneak peek at CarPlay fo the future (which also showcases what a future Apple Car will also look like from inside the car), Metal 3 for incredible graphics that make you wonder why you need a PS5, Xbox or Nintendo Switch, Spatial Audio with AirPods, the ability to use your iPhone's camera as the webcam in FaceTime, Zoom, Teams, Webex as described above and much, much, MUCH more. The new M2-powered 13.3-inch MacBook Pro has the same screen size as before, a 720P webcam, the Touch Bar and of course the fans for "sustained performance" - but it doesn't have Magsafe. Then there's the new M2 processor on a new MacBook Air with 13.6-inch screen, Magsafe, a new 67w charger option that can charge your MBA to 50% in just 30 minutes, a notch that contains a 1080P webcam and more, including STILL being totally finless, except for the massive Mac fan-base, of course. IPadOS 16 for M1-based iPads gets FULL external monitor support, resizable app windows and Stage Manager, too. Google, Microsoft - where the heck is your innovation in this regard? Windows 11 is a regression, not progression, in various ways. MacOS Ventura scales stunning new heights, especially with Stage Manager for managing multiple apps. WatchOS 9 ups the health ante to sweaty new levels. iOS 16 gets great new features in a wide range of areas, with the blending of talking and typing just one impressive highlight. Meanwhile, Google still can't figure out which video calling app you should use and has only just decided to merge Google Duo and Google Meet, although the actual merger of the two apps is still a few months away.īut look, before I go on, you really need to see this keynote for yourself. ![]() There's also Continutiy camera - a wireless way to use your iPhone's camera on your Mac for use with Zoom, Facetime and more - with Centre Stage and the virtual ringlight that is Studio Light too, with no bright lights shining into your eyes - this is a feature I can't wait to use! Meanwhile, Apple has been refining its Continuity feature for years, and now lets you use Continuity with FaceTime video calls, too - start one on your iPhone, continue on your iPad or Mac when you get home or to the office. I really mean it - that was absolutely incredible, with Apple pushing the boundaries across so many areas it is both mind-blowing - and for Apple's competitors, very embarrassing.Īn example? While Google's I/O 2022 keynote was indeed impressive, and definitely an event you really must watch, Google is only just now, in 2022, introducing a Continuity-like feature, which lets you copy something on one Google-powered device you own, and copy it to another. I've just finished watching Apple's WWDC 2022 keynote, and WOW. ![]()
